Return to Alaska Home Page

We hit the road to Barrow, the northern most city in the United States. It is a gray and cloudy day in Petersburg when we leave but it's nice to get on the road again.  As of this morning, Barrow is snowy and 32 degrees. This sounds miserable but is actually encouraging.

Perry wants to see polar bears and they have an aversion to good weather. The colder, the better. We may get bear pix after all.

(As usual, click on the little picture to see the big picture.)

When you visit Petersburg, we highly recommend the Scandia House. Just don't stay in room 301, 302 or 303, which front on the main street. It is very noisy.

Bring your computer because they have the best wireless internet service of any hotel I've been in this year. Also, it's free. Also, they have great TV channels. The people are nice, too.

Maria is such a ham. Stick a camera in front of her, no matter where she is, and you get a pose and a smile.

Perry looks great and is less filling. He makes a teriffic welcoming committee for an airline. Alaska Air should give him a discount.

He is not as pretty as Michelle and Julia, however.

My sweetie looks great anywhere. We switched seats with some kids. She got a window and I got a row with an aisle and nobody beside me.

A good flight was had by all.

Julia and Michelle took great care of us on Alaska Flight 65 from Petersburg to Anchorage. We caught them in between stops.

Our plane is part cargo, part passenger.

Aside from the small overhead bins, it is no different than a regular passenger plane.

Juneau airport has very interesting aircraft moving in and out.
