There is no real theme this month. I found a lot
of interesting things on my travels around Ohio, Oklahoma, Missouri and
Kansas.
On our drive from Tulsa to Springfield, Steve
Meyer found an interesting place outside of Afton OK called the HarBer Village.
It is a collection of buildings built by Harold and Bernice and should you ever
be in the vicinity, stop in.
Barry and Dee forced me to go to Tijuana and buy
drugs. (Retin A, not what you think.)
Look closely at the moon in the upper left of the
building. Very little augmentation.
This is from the CSX yard in Columbus OH. It is severely
image processed and that has reduced the quality.
This is on Route 65 between Springfield MO and
Little Rock. No real "fixes" except brightness and
contrast.
Rotated, brightened, contrasted, Digital GEM'd
and color balanced within an inch of its life.
HarBer Village.
Virtually unchanged. The original was shot at
the 12MP setting on the S2 and the resulting 35MB file was sharpened and
contrasted just a little. I love the grain and tones of the wood. It was
in HarBer Village.
Sunset at Dockweiler Beach. This is my favorite of the three sunset
photos. It was done with the 75-300 Nikkor. The proper exposure turned out
to be 1 stop under.
The side of a building in HarBer Village. I just
had a wood jones this day.
In Marilyn's back yard. This is the second year I've been able to have
fun with fichus.
The other sunset photo. The guy turned out to be a photographer with
his hat turned around backward. I hope I can screw up one of his great
images someday.
These
are bricks made especially to line water wells around Kansas and Oklahoma.
They are called Vitreous Brick, I think, and they are on display at the
HarBer Village. There are over one hundred of them and they are all
different.
If you are curious why the 75-300 Nikkor is my favorite lens, look
closely at these two photos. They were taken from about 25 yards away.
Look closely at Jada's head and see the detail in the shot. It was medium
resolution on the S2 and is sharpened a little (very little) and not
changed a bit from the original.
Another 2 shot package. The dog was in a classic car in Ocean Beach. A
little saturation increase and some dodging of the dog's head.
God, I love Red!
Yeah, I screwed around with this one a little. Figure
it out and you get a prize!
Another 75-300 shot. Lightened and reduced contrast only.
Once again, there is no copyright notice.
Once again, you have blanket permission to steal whatever you want.
Once again, send me a check with a lot of zeros before the decimal point.
Once again, well, never mind...
