October 2002

October was a good month for pictures, especially dramatic ones. I got to shoot from the flight line at the Miramar Air Show when Diana's orchestra played in the Twilight Show for the Marines. It was a particularly fun time since I got to bluff my way through the Media gate with my press pass. Too cool for words.

These photos are from other places.

(As usual, click on the little picture to see the big picture.)

Bailey.jpg (18817 bytes)
Alex's friend Bailey at the head end of a slide. G2
BlackPigeon.jpg (16347 bytes)
Find the black pigeon. G2
Davilas23.jpg (37935 bytes)
The Davila's at sunset. Is that a cool sky or what!

One of the nice things about the G2 is its fill flash capability. If Canon had been able to do this with the D30 and 550EX I'd still own one. G2

JetTruck1.jpg (17693 bytes)
A 380 mph truck powered by jet engines. It was a loud sucker, too. G2
JigSaw1.jpg (85935 bytes)
Jig saw pieces. I did a fair amount of Photoshop here, mostly contrast and brightness. G2
Lantern.jpg (49951 bytes)
A tonally complex photo that I did a fair amount of work on. Mostly contrast and brightness, some sharpening. It is what my mind's eye saw, however. G2
MarineLayer22.jpg (17024 bytes)
Not snow, just clouds. This is the Marine Layer over San Diego on a Sunday morning. We are about 30 miles East. G2
MiramarFireworks.jpg (53669 bytes)
The D30 does a great job on fireworks. Especially if you don't shake the camera. D30
PurpleFlower.jpg (45257 bytes)
This really a straight photo with the G2. I did a little sharpening because I had the camera sharpness set to "soft" by accident. G2
SBCMoon1.jpg (24895 bytes)
Moon over SBC in Austin. I took this in October from the roof of the 4 Points hotel. G2
SanDiegoSunset.jpg (30229 bytes)
Sunset from my kids place just before they moved. Straight. No mods. G2
