The Big Rain
February 21, 2005

California is pretty cool, dontchathink? We've had fires and earthquakes. Now we get floods. Next year we are looking forward to the locusts, and the slaying of our first born legislators (no, just kidding... that would be asking too much of God.)

It isn't Iowa or Missouri but remember that we live at the top of a hill and it was still flooding our backyard. Here are a few photos of what was happening and, for all you know, may still.

(As usual, click on the little picture to see the big picture.)

Our City
These photos are from the drive home from Home Depot where we went to pick up a tarp to cover the roof over our closet. The reason why will become evident soon. You could have done surfing in the gutters. Oh, wait, we don't have gutters in San Diego. Never mind. You could surf by the curb.

Keeping the Wisch Family Estate from floating away.
OK, there was no real danger but we have about $6,000 damage to the closet and the deck.

She says, "Is that the picture I'm going to hate?"

I said, "No. The one you're going to hate is a few to the right. This one makes you look adorable!"

This one, too!

You just gotta love a woman who isn't afraid to squeegee off the patio.

This is the one she is going to hate.

As you can see, water is doing its very best to clean our backyard.

I'm outta here. Got to go to the hobby shop and buy an RC boat.

I put the tarp up to control the damage to the closet.

The roof shouldn't leak but it does.

"Lizzy Nowell took an axe and gave the damn deck forty whacks."

I had to chop a hole in the deck to allow the water to drain instead of pooling on the roof.

It isn't a big hole but then that's the whole point.

My 4x4 water dam to keep the damn water from going into the house.

Lake Lemon Tree.

The green stuff is algae forming on the outside of the closet wall. Inside it is white fuzzy stuff and is eating my shoes.

One good thing is that it makes the plum tree shed nice pink petals all over my car. I feel like I'm driving a Rose Bowl float.

Sure hope it's drowning ants and flies.

"Rain drops keep falling through my light..."

Lots of them.

The bucket.
