At The Beach - Party Photos - Bill Enos Info
Once again, it was my birthday on the Memorial Day weekend. It wasn't really
but as usual it gave me a reason to blow $300 bucks on a party and fill the
house with my family and friends.
The weekend started off with a whine tasting party at Marilyn's. The first
photos are from that event with suitable disrespectful captions.
The next photos are from my party, with photo credits to Perry who took all
the photos of me except the group photo which I did with a self-timer.
(As usual, click on the little
picture to see the big picture.)
Everyone is watching the Iron Chef except Scott, who, I think, is
watching me. (Why is that, do you think?)
Herm didn't get enough wine at dinner and needed to
stick his finger in a light socket for an additional buzz.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
|
Marilyn is doing a recitation about the trip to the central coast wine
country. She is describing the "Little Bottle That Got
Away." |
Sandra, never being one to let a good yarn loose, tells about the
"Big Bottle That Got Away."
Don't be fooled. They came back from the trip with seven
cases of wine and didn't let any bottle get away.
|
I'm not sure who got away here but it looks like Angela diving for the
floor. |
Herm can't tell anyone anything because as far as he is concerned,
nothing got away. |
Scott has his nose stuck in a glass. Everyone is scared and running
for cover. |
Nowell's
Birthday Party |
Like Caesar, I salute You!
If it wasn't for my friends I would have a much poorer
life.
No joke. I appreciate each and every one of you and
thank you for making my life as rich an experience as it has been.
Enough of this maudlin shit. The "Pinch" isn't
bad, either.
|
The cake was a killer. Herm and Goldie know cake.
They also know I can't eat it so there was plenty for
everyone.
|
"Hey Hon...
Want some?" |
DJ and Goldie get lit.
Given how the weekend started, it's a wonder that we
have any liver left at all.
God help those poor grapes, too. |
This ball got everyone in trouble. Rachael ran but could not escape. |
Nancy got a new camera. I think she bought it because it looks
cool. |
I get cool presents. They are not required. I would feed everyone
anyway. It helps my self-esteem, though. |
Alex gets to enjoy the Chicago and North Western sign.
He also gets to enjoy the icing on the cake.
|
I don't know why Joe isn't smiling. He is the thinnest one in the
crowd and everyone is jealous.
(See
Joe's Big Bear Story for how he got this way.)
|
Eden and Ashley.
Eden has a new boyfriend, Brandon. He is a nice fellow but in this
photo I cut him out. I caught him in a dork moment and don't want to scare
him off just yet.

No
Memorial Day weekend would be complete without a PopPop/Alex sleepover at
Dockweilwer beach. These are the photos I took of my little guy playing at
the beach on Monday night. |
"Hi Old Guy!" |
"Yes, I can have fun anywhere as long as I can get dirty."
|
Why did the Alex cross the road? Because PopPop told him not to.
|
Of course, once you go across, you have to come back. |
"I can also have fun playing with construction toys." |
He says, "Would you like to be my friend?" She said
"Yes." |
>Hi Everyone,
> Just thought I would give you the update on Bill. I finally
received a mailing address. It is:
>Major Bill Enos
>379th AEW/ATOC
>Attn: 1394th DSB
>APO, AE 09309
>I think AEW means Air Expeditionary Wing and ATOC means Air
Transformation Operations Center, DSB means Deployment Support Battalion.
>His email address is: William.Enos@US.Army.MIL
>He is doing fine in Qatar. Apparently it is hot, hot, hot. 112 today, 111
degrees yesterday, and I don't think it has dipped under 105 degrees during the
day since he arrived. He is living in a tent that has A/C. I don't know how
effective A/C is in that kind of heat, still pretty hot I would think, and a lot
of their work is outside. I don't know what security is like or if they venture
out into the town or not. I just know that they are on an Air Force installation
and they generally have better facilities than the Army. Bill's team was happy
to find good morale stuff in place--like a movie tent, small PX, books, and good
mess hall food. Water is scarce. They get 3 minute showers. A 30 second rinse,
time to suds up, and then 2 1/2 min. rinse. Bill says it's enough time once you
get used to it. Heck, I think he's just happy he's in a tent and not outside.
Compared to the Infantry, this is deluxe. He did say that there was more dust in
the air than one could believe. Thick enough to cut. I'm sure the mechanics love
that. He's doing the same job as before--they help ensure that the loading of
equipment is done correctly. It is for all modes of transportation: trucks,
trailers, trains, ships, and various containers, etc, used to mobilize troops
and their gear and vehicles. I think now they are actually doing personnel
stuff, as well. Not sure what that entails. He has been in Qatar since Wed. May
14th, before that he was in Germany. He has been deployed since Feb. 5th. Will
and I visited him in NJ, and VA, but not TX--he left there unexpectedly early.
We were lucky to get to visit, and he was able to take 6 days leave from Germany
before going to Qatar. He will probably be there for 6 months or so. Hopefully,
not longer, but who knows. Now, they are sending people home, and there is
plenty of work to keep them there for 6 months.
